Family Forest at Beaumont Park

Family Forest sessions are held regularly and in school holidays, using different sites within Beaumont Park in the Calder Valley.

Family Forest sessions are delivered by Jo, a qualified teacher and Forest School Leader. She is also trained in outdoor emergency first aid.

Family Forest sessions are designed for children AND their adults, with the adults remaining present throughout. This is to encourage and promote positive relationships with the outdoors and with each other as well as those within the wider group.

Experiences include

Family fun in the forest Themed sessions, nature spotting, tracks, trails, fire-lighting and so much more…

Experiences include: nature spotting, using tools, nature inspired art, tracks and trails, fire lighting and more. Have a look at the Gallery for a flavour of Family Forest.

Recent Family Forest sessions have been inspired by some of the children’s favourite stories, ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’ and ‘Stickman’, all by Julia Donaldson. Hazelnut and blindfold trails along with making our very Stickmen and Stick Lady Loves have proved very popular.

The cost of Family Forest sessions is £5 per child plus adult donations. Healthy snacks and drinks and all tools and materials are provided at no extra charge.

Families are invited to bring along a packed lunch to eat after morning sessions. Tea, coffee and refreshments can also be purchased from the Friends of Beaumont Park, in the Visitor’s Centre.

Come along, make new friends and learn new skills!
