We’re pleased to confirm that the Network is now up and running and our first CPD event on Knotty Play will be on Monday 6th November from 9.30-12.30 at the Forest School site at Beaumont Park.  You can find out more and book a place on Eventbrite here.  This will be followed at a later date (hopefully Dec or Jan) by a early evening meeting/networking/discussion event with a couple of guest speakers (hopefully from Natural Kirklees and Comoodle).  Both of these events will be free to members (and non-members can pay to attend the CPD).

As discussed at the launch event the membership fee is £60pp per year, and for that you will have access to:

  • 3 free CPD sessions per year
  • additional free networking, information and discussion sessions
  • a programme of discounted CPD and training sessions
  • use Council-owned land for Forest School sessions and resources

We’ve asked the Council to help us work on a constitution and branding, and we’re still finalising the process for accessing Council land with them, but in the meantime, we’ve come up with some draft aims and objectives:

Aim

To promote the Forest School ethos and the use of green spaces in Kirklees, alongside developing and supporting local Forest School practitioners and their practice.

Objectives

  1. To facilitate and support information and resource sharing between members
  2. To provide ongoing support and development to network members
  3. To facilitate and enable access to local parks, woodland and green spaces for members
  4. To raise the profile of Forest School and its key principles within Kirklees and promote best practice

And Keep In Touch

We’ll keep trying to send out regular newsletters and updates via email, so please make sure we’ve got the correct contact details for you.  Also, you can keep an eye on our website as everything will be published there too (www.naturesfootprints.co.uk/blog) and our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/NaturesFootprints).  We’ll also try and share info via the Kirklees Forest School Network group (a group we were involved in setting up a few years ago), West Yorkshire Training Alliance Forest School and Outdoor Learning Group, and Nature’s Footprints Network Group on Facebook.
